Harry GrayHarry Gray earned his master’s degree in music education as well as his PhD in music theory from Northwestern University. He has completed a three-summer training course in the Orff-Schulwerk approach to music education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and holds K–12 teaching credentials in Illinois. Harry also worked for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s education department, overseeing school outreach programs and developing orchestra concerts for children. Prior to relocating to the East Bay from Chicago in 2005, Harry worked as a homeroom teacher in the upper elementary grades for six years before turning his attention to the music classroom. He taught general music for three years at Windrush School in El Cerrito before joining Walden in 2009. Harry is particularly attracted to Walden‘s close-knit sense of community, its commitment to the individual needs of each child, and its emphasis on artistic expression. Outside of his work at Walden, Harry teaches private guitar and bass lessons, and is devoted to his wife and two young daughters. Harry has also performed as a singer and songwriter for many years, recently releasing his first solo album of original songs, entitled The Rest of My World.
