Eileen Carey
Middle Group

Middle Group (Grades 2-3)

After a five-year hiatus, Eileen is thrilled to be returning to the Walden community this fall (2011). During her time away she traveled to France, Australia, and New Zealand, and then worked with children in infancy through school age and their families in UC Berkeley’s Early Childhood Education Program.

She’s excited to be back at Walden to coteach with Cristin in the Middle Group. In her own words she is “committed to furthering what Walden does best—instilling a love of learning where children’s skills, interests, and talents grow and develop through creative, thought-provoking experiences and curriculum. I love to learn and there’s no better way than to teach exuberant children.”

Eileen received her BA and teaching credential from the Boston College School of Education. Starting at Walden in 1981, she worked in EDC, followed by many years as the Lower Group and Lower Middle Group teacher. Her two sons graduated from Walden and attended UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. Eileen enjoys gardening, beachcombing, birding, her monthly book group, and getting together to cook, eat, and sing with friends.
