Parents

At Walden, parents are involved throughout the school every day. While every family works at least fifty hours as part of their work commitment, we find that most people don’t stop there and want more ways to be involved with Walden’s vibrant and diverse community. There are opportunities to fit every schedule and skill-set and Walden thrives as a result of an active parent body. Here are just a few ways parents can participate:
  • Drivers and chaperones on field trips
  • Volunteers in the classroom and on campus
  • Walden Parents Association
  • Support for performances, including the Upper Group Play
  • Performers at our Gala, Spring Fair, or Winter Frolic
  • Quiltmakers of our annual Community Quilt
  • Members of our Diversity and Respect For All Committees

Walden Parents Association

The Walden Parents Association (WPA) is a fun, energetic group of parents and teachers working to coordinate volunteer efforts that go above and beyond work commitment hours. We are dedicated to giving every student the best possible educational experience and to supporting our teaching collective in every way we can. We support Walden’s outreach and fund-raising efforts, and coordinate many community events throughout the year. All Walden parents are WPA members and are invited to participate in any capacity they can. These are just a few of the WPA’s projects:
  • Back-to-School Coffee
  • Annual Back-to-School Clothing Swap
  • Solano Stroll booth
  • Spice of Life booth
  • The 12th Annual Gala Benefit and Auction
  • Walden Family-Friendly Winter Frolic
  • Grandparents and Special Friends Day
  • Annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
  • “I Heart Walden" Campaign
We have set a schedule of meetings on campus until the end of the calendar year, alternating day and evening meetings to encourage as many parents as want to actively participate to do so: Tuesday, November 16, 3-5 pm Thursday, December 2, 5-7 pm For childcare during the afternoon, there is EDC. For childcare in the evening, please contact Christa at least three days before the meeting.
